Sonic Riders free review: Council's death

4 Randy Nelson-2010 November 9 : 00 AM on paper, Sonic Riders free probably sounded pretty cool. Actually on second thought, it's probably sounded like a cheap and easy way to make Kinect running games. I can see the instructions for the developer: "Hey, guys, you know that the third game in the universally panned, Sonic Riders, series we discontinued a few years ago? I take it, make it work with Kinect just well enough to obtain the latest Microsoft and get it out the door, 4 November. But no, we can't stress this enough, has made, any work makes it worth it. "

Or at least that's what you can imagine it, as I did, entirely too much time to this mess, mind numbing, games.

I say "mess?" OK, well, because it is.Here's the gist: you control the Sonic (or one of his many friends and enemies) as you race through various forums to hoverboards (or hoverbikes) throw weapons on opponents, collecting coins, grinding of the rail and usually happens very quickly see it sounds cool. May well be, were it not for the fact that the simple act of turning (let alone do it with any precision) requires more effort than that promised the general concept of it costs.

Before each race you participate in a short pre-race during which you weave between cones in what appears to be an attempt to calibrate the game on your range of motion. In my experience, it does not appear to reduce my need to contort my body and make radical, exaggerated hand movements to feel like I was only vaguely controlled my character.

Not limited to, the game requires you to blow, as if you are riding a skateboard ramp (those still chased Tony Hawk: ride can stop here), Crouch and move from the word (acts, which more often than not, do not register) to perform tricks and do all kinds of applications to take advantage of ups (e.g. golf swing, it is not surprising that really doesn't work).

The result is the equivalent of patting your head when rubbing your stomach rode Unicycle. At best this clumsy and disappointing, at worst, you'll just end up unintentionally screeching to a halt. This happens, you'll hit something or computer-controlled racers will be zipping, blissfully freely along the same lines as you Lucky Devils.

To its credit game is colorful.

If you couldn't tell, I'm not a fan of Sonic Riders: free video games are, at least at the basic level must entertain and make use of in this case, the fun begins and ends all you can imagine the experience might be like.

This overview is based on the final retail copies of free Sonic Riders from Sega.
